Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Stone Trail collects through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We have kept it in plain language — if anything is unclear, contact us and we will explain it.

Who we are

Stone Trail Ltd., trading as Stone Trail, operates this website and is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

You can reach us at 1703 Welch Street, North Vancouver, BC V7P 3G9, Canada, by email at info@stonetrailltd.com, or by phone at (604) 960-1090.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to answer your enquiry about materials and to keep the website working well. We do not buy personal information from data brokers, and we do not sell yours.

  • Information you give us — when you submit the material enquiry form: your name, email address, phone number, the project details you describe (such as approximate square footage, the type of project, and your fabricator or installer if you name one), and anything else you choose to include in your message.
  • Information you give us in other ways — when you email us, call us, or book a viewing at our Welch Street showroom.
  • Information collected automatically by our host — our web host records standard server information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, and the time of the request. This is used to serve the site and to keep it secure.
  • Information collected by our analytics tag — we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: the pages you view, roughly where you are (city level, from a truncated IP address), the type of device and browser you use, and how you arrived at the site. It is set up to measure the website, not to identify you, and we do not combine it with your enquiry details. See the cookies section below.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

We use the information above to respond to your enquiry, to quote and source material, to arrange viewings and deliveries, to keep the website available and secure, and to comply with our legal, accounting, and tax obligations.

Under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act and Canada's PIPEDA, we collect, use, and disclose personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, and we rely on your consent — which you give by sending us an enquiry, and which you may withdraw at any time. Where a law that requires a separate legal basis applies to you (for example the UK or EU GDPR), we rely on your consent for non-essential cookies, on the steps necessary to take at your request before entering into a contract when you ask us about material, and on our legitimate interest in running and securing our website.

We do not use your information to make decisions about you by automated means alone, and we do not profile you for automated decision-making. We do not use your enquiry details to send you marketing unless you ask us to.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We share it only with the service providers and people who help us run this website and fulfil your enquiry, each of which is limited to using it for that purpose:

  • Our website hosting provider, Craftify AI, which stores and serves the site.
  • Our form provider, Craftify AI web forms, which delivers your enquiry from the website to our inbox.
  • Our analytics provider, Google (Google Analytics 4), which processes website-usage information on our behalf under its own terms. It receives usage data, never the contents of your enquiry.
  • Our email provider, which carries our reply to you.
  • Where your project requires it and you have asked us to coordinate, the fabricator, installer, or freight carrier handling your material — we share only what they need to quote, schedule, or deliver.
  • Our professional advisers (such as our accountant), and government or law-enforcement bodies where we are legally required to disclose information.

Where your information is processed

Some of our service providers process and store information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is outside Canada, that information may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities of the country it is held in, under the laws of that country. We rely on our providers' contractual safeguards — typically the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent terms — and we take reasonable steps to confirm the information receives comparable protection. If you would rather not have your details handled this way, contact us by phone or post instead of using the form.

Cookies, tracking, and embedded content

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. This website uses Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies to recognise a returning browser and to count visits and page views. We use it only to see how the site is performing. This site carries no advertising, remarketing, or social-media tracking pixels, we have not enabled Google Signals or advertising features, and we do not track you across other websites.

Our contact page embeds a Google Map so you can find the Welch Street showroom. When that map loads, Google may set cookies and receive your IP address under its own privacy policy — we do not control that, and we receive no personal information from it. If you would prefer not to load it, you can block third-party cookies or use the plain address and directions link on the same page instead.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, and Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics entirely (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). Doing either will not stop the rest of this site working. You can also read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and quote details for 24 months from our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Where an enquiry becomes an order, we keep the associated records for as long as our tax, accounting, and warranty obligations require — generally seven years — and then delete them. Server logs held by our host are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting. Website-usage data in Google Analytics is retained for 14 months and then deleted automatically.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it if it is wrong or incomplete, to delete it, or to stop using it for a particular purpose. You can withdraw your consent at any time, and you can ask us to stop contacting you.

Depending on where you live you may have further rights — for example to data portability, to object to processing, to appeal a decision we make about your request, or to be free from unfavourable treatment for exercising a privacy right. We honour these regardless of where you live.

To exercise any right, email info@stonetrailltd.com or write to us at the address above. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity before we act, and we will ask only for what is necessary to do that. You may use an authorised representative where the law allows it. There is no charge for a reasonable request.

If you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you live elsewhere, you may complain to your local privacy regulator.

Children

This website is intended for adults specifying, buying, or installing building materials, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

How we protect it

The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and we limit access to enquiry details to the people at Stone Trail who need them to reply to you and fulfil your order. We review who has access as our team changes.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information and creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the relevant Commissioner as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change — for example if we add analytics or online ordering to this site. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will make that clear on this page.
